Things of This World

By Dan and Brigitte Laskowski Copyright 1988

You work so hard, to buy a car,
A microwave, a VCR.
But if you want to keep them without a scar,
Then you better keep them in a jar.

CAUSE THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD
ARE PASSING AWAY.
HERE TOMMOROW
AND THEN GONE THE NEXT DAY.
YES THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD
ARE PASSING AWAY.
SO YOU BETTER GET READY
FOR THE LORD OF ALL,
OR IN HELL YOU'LL STAY.

You put your money in silver and gold.
So in the future, you've something to hold.
From overtime, before your time,
You've grown too old and grown too cold.

Your stamp collection has turned to mold.
Your speculations were a bit too bold.
It's nice to have nice things too,
But don't let things have you.
